Eng.Mohammad Said Al Hmaidi, CEO of the Water Sector Regulatory Council (WSRC) in Palestine, participated in the global launch webinar of the Call to Action on Strengthening Water and Sanitation Regulatory Systems, organized by the World Bank. The event brought together key stakeholders from regulatory bodies, utilities, and service operators, including ABAR, AySA, LIS-Water, and WSRC.
The session focused on innovative reforms that have improved service performance, equity, and climate resilience across various regions. Participants discussed effective regulatory tools, persistent challenges, and strategies to strengthen collaboration between regulators and service providers, with the goal of enhancing compliance and accountability.
Mr. Al Hmaidi shared insights into the regulatory experience in Palestine and discussed how the Call to Action could support ongoing national efforts to build more resilient and equitable water and sanitation systems. The webinar also explored core themes such as regional cooperation and peer learning, the role of development partners in strengthening regulation, and the importance of youth and civil society engagement in promoting inclusive and accountable WASH services.
